Washington, D.C. – The University of Valley Forge Men's Baseball team traveled to Gallaudet University to kick off the 2019 baseball spring season. The Patriots were bested by the Bison in double header with scores resulting in 21-3 and 12-3.
Game 1
The Patriots were off to a good start game one, the Patriots struck first with a single to left field RBI by Waldo Odens Jr, who brought James Jackson in for the first earned run of the game. The Patriots Richard Cosgrove followed up with a bunt RBI bringing in Joseph Aguiar giving the Patriots a 2-0 lead. They were held to just one score for the rest of the game.
The Bison got things rolling in the bottom of the third scoring twice to tie the game up. Gallaudet put two more runs up at the bottom of the fourth with a single and bases loaded to right field, and finished the inning with an additional five runs. GU brought in another 2 runs in the fifth and finished up with the game with 21 total runs. Austin Sliva-Wynne got the win the for the Bison. Joseph Aguiar took the loss for UVF.
Game 2
In the second game the Bison struck first with a deep triple to center field. Cameron Upton lead GU with three scored runs, four hits, and three RBI. Shea Sliva-Wynne picked up the win for the Bison. Zachary Nunnery took the loss for UVF.
In a tough loss to Gallaudet the Patriots look forward to getting in shape for the rest of the season. This season opener is just the start for the young Patriots who look forward to hitting the practice field to prepare for their next outing.

The Patriots will travel to Hackettstown, NJ to face Centenary University in a double header Friday, March 1st.
