Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Patriots Cruise by Panthers

Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Men's Basketball team pushed passed the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences 86-61 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Patriots move to 5-3 on the season.

Sophomore Aaron Hill led the Patriots in scoring with 25 points, shooting 9-18 from the field, 5-13 from behind the arc, and 2-3 from the stripe. Owen Bradford dished out 11 points and 8 rebounds, while Matthew Altamirano notched an additional 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.

"I told the team I will take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day of the week," head coach DJ Damazo stated. "We really struggled to find rhythm offensively all game. We will hit the books hard for finals week and then have a nice break before we gear up for the second semester."

The Patriots struggled to find steady momentum in the first-half, only scoring 17 points within the first 10 minutes. With a 6-point benefit over the Panthers, the Patriots pushed their lead to 19 points, entering half-time with a comfortable lead.

Down 41-22, the Panthers weren't able to put up much of a fight as they allowed the Patriots to hit 41.9% from the field. With Valley Forge extending their lead to a game-high 30 points, all Patriots were able to see the court. The Patriots closed out the game with a block from Jeremy Eng, claiming the 86-61 victory.

As a team, the Patriots went 33-81 from the field, 12-41 from three-point land, and 8-11 from the free-throw line. Valley Forge posted a 59-47 benefit on rebounds, gathered 25 points off of turnovers, 38 points in the paint, and an impressive 41 points from the bench.

The Patriots will be back in action following Christmas Break as they host the Lions of Bryn Athyn College on Saturday, January 4th at 1 p.m.
