Gettysburg, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Volleyball team (3-15) took a trip to Gettysburg College to face Penn State Mont Alto (16-5). Despite being on a neutral sight, the Patriots fell to the Nittany Lions 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-17).
Although the Patriots were able to start every set with heavy momentum, the Lions would sneak back in to reclaim the lead with their aggressive net play. Valley Forge struggled in the front with a -.074 attacking percentage, committing 18 errors with only 10 kills.
Mariah Straker led the Patriots in kills (4), with
Hannah Hawryluk and
Kaitlyn Hess both dishing out four assists. First-year player Zhuanel du Toit gathered a pair of blocks, as
Melanie-Ann Torres dominated the back row with 18 digs.
The Patriots will return home on Thursday, October 10
th as they take on the Mounties of Mount Aloysius College at 7 p.m.
