Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Volleyball fell short to the Devils of FDU – Florham 3-0 (14-25, 11-25, 12-25). The Patriots gave fighting effort, but the Devils proved to be too much.
In front of a rowdy home crowd, the Patriots (3-12) collected a .040 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Mariah Straker had an exceptional game at the net as she tallied a .643 clip, leading the team with 9 kills out of her 14 total attempts.
Hannah Hawryluk led the Patriots in assists (8), with
Kaitlyn Hess leading in digs (13), followed by
Jasmine Vargas (12), and
Melanie-Ann Torres (10).
The Devils made it quite difficult for the Patriots to find order as they gathered 37 kills, and 11 service aces. As a team, the Devils earned a .248 attacking percentage, only committing 11 errors out of 105 attempts.
"Although we didn't get the result we wanted, I am happy with how the ladies played," head coach
Jessica Rink stated. "We had some good moments and some pretty tough moments as well. We will be taking feedback from this game to improve on the rest of our season."
The Patriots will return at home on Tuesday, October 1
st to welcome the Highlanders of Cairn University at 7 p.m.
