Game Recap Men's Baseball, April 8, 2018
Phoenixville, PA- The University of Valley Forge men's baseball team (3-17) took on Central Pennsylvania College (6-10), losing both games of the double header.
Game 1- Patriots 4, Knights 6
Game Summary- The Knights jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first. The Patriots responded in the bottom half by bringing home two runs. The pitching and defense took over for both teams as Zach Nunnery and Jeffrey Vald cruised through the opposing lineups. The Knights brought across a lone run in the fifth after Todd Cook stole third, and then scored on a throwing error. The Knights extended their lead in the seventh after an RBI groundout from Christopher Rosario and an RBI single from Miguel Arred. The Patriots made a push in the home half of the seventh after Bryan Reyes hit a sac fly and
Cody Rak grounded out to bring in a run. The Patriots dropped the first game of the double header.
Game 2- Patriots 9, Knights 10
Game Summary- The Knights jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning. The Patriots were battling to catch up but could not bring across the tying run. After being down 10-6 in the bottom of the sixth, they brought across three runs to close the lead to 10-9. They held the Knights in the top half of the seventh but were not able to score the tying run in the bottom half. This ended the double header with a loss.
What's next- The Patriots travel to New York on Wednesday April 11 to take on Yeshiva College, and Central Pennsylvania takes on Kent St., Tuscarawas on April 12.
