Box Score Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Basketball team took on the Tigers of Trinity Washington University on Thursday evening. The Patriots came away with a convincing 78-50 win.
The Patriots (10-7) were led by senior
Bailey Mayforth. Mayforth scored 17 points and gathered 6 rebounds. Four minutes into the game Bailey would knock down a free throw which was her 1,000 career point.
Sophomore Natalie Cortes added 14 points and 1o rebounds for the Patriots.
The Tigers (3-12) were led offensively by Kiana Graves with 11. Zuri Wells added 10 points along with 15 rebounds.
UVF started the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back. The Patriots who scored first would never trail throughout the contest. Mayforth got the Patriots rolling by knocking down a 12 ft jumper from the baseline and then a long triple followed by a jumper from Amaya Brown made a 7 point lead look insurmountable. The Patriots ended the first quarter with another 7-0 run that made the score 28-14.
The Second period was more of the same. Just a complete dominant performance by the Patriots. UVF scored at will on Thursday night. Up by 14, UVF went on an 8-0 run that consisted of easy layups by Natalie Cortes and Amaya Brown. Valley Forge led by 20 halfway through the 2
nd period. The Patriot continued to pour it on and would end the half with a 27 point advantage 53-26.
By the end of the third quarter UVF led by 30 points and the fourth was a carbon copy. The Patriots cruised to an easy 78-50 win and improved their record to 10-7.
