Phoenixville, PA – The Patriots Men's Basketball team played host to the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College on Saturday afternoon. The Patriots fell by a final score of 80-61.
Offensively, the Patriots were led by Freshmen Aaron Hill (Fredericksburg, MD) with 19 points. Hill was 5-10 from behind the arc. Senior Cody Collins (Oakdale, NY) had 17 points while Sean Word (Baltimore, MD) had another double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Valley Forge ran into a hot shooting Elizabethtown team. Etown shot a blistering 58% from long range by going 7 of 12 in the first half. The Blue Jays led by as many as 16 in the first half and led 45-29 after one half of basketball. Elizabethtown continued to shoot the ball well in the second half and would go on to win by a final score of 80-61.
The Patriots will return to action after Christmas Break and look to continue to build on what they have accomplished in the first half of the season. Aaron Hill and Cody Collins lead the team in scoring by averaging 11 points per contest. Sean Word continues to cause opponents problems on the glass. Word is averaging 13 rebounds a game. The Patriots next game will be against Penn State Brandywine on January 8, 2019.
