Phoenixville, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Volleyball team welcomed the Washington Adventist Shock to their home floor on Tuesday evening. The Patriots sweep the match 3-0 to earn their 11
th victory of the season.
UVF got off to a slow start in the first set against a pesky Shock team. Adventist matched the Patriots point for point until the midway point. Behind the serving of
Brittany Eberly and timely kills from
Megan Bard, UVF used an 8-0 run to open up a 21-12 lead. Valley Forge closed out the first set thanks to another
Megan Bard kill and Adventist errors. The Patriots took set 1 by a score of 25-14.
Set #2 wouldn't be close. The Patriots opened up the set with a 7-3 run and controlled the game from the beginning. UVF would go on to build a 16-7 advantage behind the serves of
Chanda Carson. The Patriots went on an 8-2 scoring run and closed out the second set with two booming kills from
Megan Freed and
Megan Bard. The Patriots won set #2 25-13.
The 3
rd set would be the final set on Tuesday evening. With the score sitting at 11-8,
Chanda Carson took her turn to serve and made the most of it. Carson served the Patriots to 8 straights points. UVF opened an 18-8 lead. Both team traded points over the course of the rest of the set.
Chanda Carson continued her impressive play when she finished off the Shock with a kill to give UVF the deciding match point. The Patriots beat the shock 25-14 in the third and final set to give them the 3 set sweep.
A Look at the Numbers
Megan Bard had a fantastic night on the attack. Bard converted 12 kills to lead the Patriots offense. Defensively the Patriots were paced by
Megan Freed and
Brittany Eberly with 18 digs. UVF picked up its 11
th win on the season to improve to 11-4 on the year.

The Patriots will travel to Kentucky for a big two day tri-match on Friday, September 29
th and Saturday, September 30
th. They will face longtime NCCAA foe Kentucky Christian University and also take on Boyce College and Alice Lloyd College. Check
