Phoenixville, PA - The University of Valley Forge Women's Soccer team continued their 2017 season against the Cougars of Medgar Evers College on Saturday afternoon. The Patriots rebounded from Tuesday's loss with an 8-0 victory over the Cougars.
Summer Paisley provided early momentum for the Patriots, getting on the board just seven minutes into the game. 16 seconds after,
Kelsey Morrison added a goal of her own in what would be a microcosm for the remainder of the game. Morrison would continue her impressive day by adding two more goals over the next 18 minutes, giving her the hat trick. The Patriots would close out the half with a goal from
Haven Mayhew, assisted by
Briana Spellman, giving them a 5-0 lead.
The second half played out much like the first half, featuring another hat trick by another Patriot. Not even a minute and a half into the new half's play,
Emily Hinton secured the first of three goals to the net's left. Unlike Morrison's chunk of scoring, Hinton's remaining two goals would come spaced throughout the remainder of the game, with the second and third coming in at 66
th and 81
st minute, respectively. In what could be described as a déjà vu matchup, the Patriots beat the Cougars by a final of 8-0. The win improves the Patriots to a 4-4 record on the season.
