Phoenixville, PA - The University of Valley Forge Men's Basketball Team played host to the Builders of Newport News Apprentice on Saturday afternoon. The Patriots won by a final score of 85-68.
With the game tied 12-12 at the 12:22 mark in the first half, UVF's
Alex Sanchez hit a 3-pointer to give the Patriots a 3 point lead. Sanchez's three sparked a 13-6 run that gave the Patriots a 7 point lead with just under 9 minutes remaining in the half. After the Builders cut the Valley Forge lead to 5,

Austin Lobo. Lobo knocked down the three to give the Patriots an 8 point lead. On UVF's next possession, McIntosh again found

Alex Sanchez layup and a pair of
Austin Lobo free throws, UVF held a 15 point lead. That was all a part of a 10-0 run. The Patriots went into halftime with a 41-28 advantage.Â
In the beginning moments of the 2
nd half, the Builder's brought the Patriots lead down to 9. From that point on, it was all Valley Forge. The Patriots went on a 17-3 run to take complete control of the game. The scoring barrage pushed the UVF lead to 24 at the halfway mark in the 2
nd half. The Builders closed the game on a 7-0 run, but it wasn't enough as UVF secured its 17
th win of the year.
A Look at the Numbers
The Patriots took control of the game by controlling the paint. The Patriots scored 34 points in the paint compared to just 8 for Newport News Apprentice. Four Patriots scored in double figures.Â
Alex Sanchez lead all scorers with 19 points.Â
Austin Lobo scored 17 points along with grabbing 9 rebounds.Â
Anthony Durham-Pennington has been a very important player coming off the bench for the Patriots. Durham-Pennington scored 17 points and also grabbed 9 rebounds.Â
Devin Williams added 13 points and 5 assists for UVF. The Patriots ended the regular season with a 17-7 record. The men head into the Mideast Regional Tournament as the #1 seed as they look to make their 11
th trip to the NCCAA National Tournament.Â
