PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Patriots took the field on Friday for the last time this season as they hosted the Tigers of Trinity Washington University (1-17) in a double-header. The Patriots would earn a split losing the 1
st game 14-5, but then coming back to take the 2
nd game 12-4.
Senior
Samantha Reed ended her 4 year career falling just shy of 100 hits at 97. She recorded 3 hits and scored 4 runs in the double-header. Fellow Senior
Emily Cantrell ended her career with a 5 hit, 3 RBI performance.
GAME 1
The Tigers jumped on the board early as they scored 3 runs on 5 hits and 1 Patriot error. The score would remain 3-0 until the bottom of the 2
nd. After a
Bailey Mayforth double,
Saquiba Mufti would triple down the right field line scoring Mayforth making the game 3-1. Mufti would be left stranded on third. The Top of the 3
rd would be the Patriots downfall as they allowed 9 runs on only 3 hits and 2 errors. The score would be 12-1. The Patriots grabbed 3 back in the bottom half as
Samantha Reed would lead off with a single.
Emily Cantrell would then triple scoring Reed. Cantrell would score when
Rachel Daniels reached on an error.
Bailey Mayforth ended the scoring when she doubled, scoring
Amanda Grief who reached on a HBP. The score would be 12-4. Trinity added 2 runs in the 4
th, and Patriots only added 1 more in the bottom half. Trinity would go on to win 14-5 in 5 innings.
Emily Cantrell led the offense going 3-3 with 2 RBIs at the plate.
Bailey Mayforth went 2-3 with a RBI.

GAME 2
In game 2 the Patriots looked to rebound from the game 1 loss, and end the season on a win. They would do just that. After the Tigers put up 3 in the 1
st, the Patriots answered with 5 of their own in the bottom half. The Patriots had 5 runs off of 5 hits and capitalized on 3 Tigers errors. The Tigers added 1 in the 2
nd, making it 5-4. In the bottom of the 3
rd the Patriots would put up another extending the lead to 6-4. The Patriots big inning came in the bottom of the 5
th.
Bailey Mayforth started it off with a single.
Saquiba Mufti walked.
Katie Finkenagel then doubled scoring Mayforth.
Kelsey Morrison hit a single scoring Finkenagel.
Samantha Reed Walked.
Rachel Daniels then capped off the scoring with a 2 RBI double giving the Patriots the 5 inning, 12-4 victory.
5 Patriot players had 2 hits in the game. 8 players in total recorded at least 1 hit.
Rachel Daniels picked up the win on the mound.
The Patriots end their season with a win, and will now rebuild and regroup for next year as the school year is coming close to an end. They will lose graduating Seniors
Samantha Reed and
Emily Cantrell.
