WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Patriots traveled to our nation's capital on Friday for a DH versus the Tigers of Trinity Washington University. A strong offensive performance in which the Patriots put up 35 runs in the 2 games helped them to a sweep of the
Tigers 20-9 and 15-6.
GAME 1
The Tigers scored first to take the early 1-0 lead after 1, but then the Patriots offense began to work. They put up 1 in the 2
nd, 3 in the 3
rd, 2 in the 4
th, 4 in the 5
th, 1 in the 6
th, and 9 in the 7
th for a 20-9 victory.
In that 9 run 7
th, 14 different Patriot batters came to the plate.
Bailey Mayforth had 2 of her 3 RBIs in that inning.
5 Patriots had multiple hits in the lopsided victory.
Samantha Reed led the way going 3-5 at the plate, including 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Bailey Mayforth and
Katie Finkenagel also had 3 RBIs a piece.
Rachel Daniels recorded the win on the mound. She went the distance striking out 6.

GAME 2
Coming off of the lopsided victory, the Patriots looked to make it two in a row. Again the bats would be there scoring 15 runs on 11 hits for the 15-6 victory.
The Patriots jumped out early this game scoring 4 runs in the 1
st. 3 of the 4 came on a
Rachel Daniels double that cleared the bases.
In the 4
th,
Amanda Grief's single to left brought in 2.
Samantha Reed also had an RBI single to score Grief.
Once again the big inning came in the 7
th when the Patriots put up 6.
Kelly Yerger singled to start the inning.
Emily Cantrell followed with a single of her own. Then
Amanda Grief would triple to right center scoring both Yerger and Cantrell. Then the
Patriots would capitalize on 5 Tigers errors to complete the big inning.
Amanda Grief led the offensive attack in game 2, going 2-5 with 4 RBIs. She also scored 3 times.
Once again
Rachel Daniels went the distance on the mound going all 7. She struck out 8 Tigers.
