Patriots Sweep Tigers

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Patriots traveled to our nation's capital on Friday for a DH versus the Tigers of Trinity Washington University. A strong offensive performance in which the Patriots put up 35 runs in the 2 games helped them to a sweep of the

Tigers 20-9 and 15-6.

GAME 1
The Tigers scored first to take the early 1-0 lead after 1, but then the Patriots offense began to work. They put up 1 in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 4 in the 5th, 1 in the 6th, and 9 in the 7th for a 20-9 victory.

In that 9 run 7th, 14 different Patriot batters came to the plate. Bailey Mayforth had 2 of her 3 RBIs in that inning.

5 Patriots had multiple hits in the lopsided victory. Samantha Reed led the way going 3-5 at the plate, including 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Bailey Mayforth and Katie Finkenagel also had 3 RBIs a piece.

Rachel Daniels recorded the win on the mound. She went the distance striking out 6.

GAME 2
Coming off of the lopsided victory, the Patriots looked to make it two in a row. Again the bats would be there scoring 15 runs on 11 hits for the 15-6 victory.

The Patriots jumped out early this game scoring 4 runs in the 1st. 3 of the 4 came on a Rachel Daniels double that cleared the bases.

In the 4th, Amanda Grief's single to left brought in 2. Samantha Reed also had an RBI single to score Grief.

Once again the big inning came in the 7th when the Patriots put up 6. Kelly Yerger singled to start the inning. Emily Cantrell followed with a single of her own. Then Amanda Grief would triple to right center scoring both Yerger and Cantrell. Then the

Patriots would capitalize on 5 Tigers errors to complete the big inning.

Amanda Grief led the offensive attack in game 2, going 2-5 with 4 RBIs. She also scored 3 times.

Once again Rachel Daniels went the distance on the mound going all 7. She struck out 8 Tigers.
