PHOENIXVILLE, PA- It was a chilly night, as the Patriots hosted the Highlanders of Cairn University. The Patriots managed 34 runs (17 a game) in route to their first 2 wins of the season Tuesday night.
GAME 1The Patriots bats would start early. With two outs in the 1
st, after back to back walks, Charlotte Rutowski would hit an RBI single scoring 1. Then
Rachel Daniels would collect 2 RBIs when she singled, making the score 3-0.
In the 2
nd the Highlanders would get 2 back, after 3 Patriots errors. The Patriots would storm right back, scoring 6 runs in the 2
nd, capped off by a
Katie Finkenagel 2 RBI single to make it 9-3.
The Patriots would grab 4 more runs in the 3
rd.
Lindsay LeSueur hit a 2 RBI triple, and
Rachel Daniels had another RBI to extend their lead 13-4.
Samantha Reed's RBI single in the 4
th pushed the score to 14-5.
In the 5
th the Highlanders plated 3 more runs, but the Patriots would score 3 in the bottom half of the inning on
Amanda Grief's 2 RBI single to give them the 5 inning, 8 run-rule win. Â Â
Final Score would be UVF 17 Cairn 8.

GAME 2In game 2, the Patriots looked for their 2
nd win of the season, as well as the double-header sweep. They would do just that, as they put up another 17 runs in a 17-9 victory over the Highlanders.
An 11 run 1
st inning was the turning point of the game. The Patriots scored 11 on only 3 hits, and capitalized on 4 Highlander errors.
The Patriots would add 1 run in the 2
nd and 5 in the bottom of the 4
th, for another 5 inning victory by a score of 17-9.
6 of the 9 Patriots in the line-up collected hits, and the Patriots drew 15 walks.
Samantha Reed had the only extra-base hit for the Patriots when she doubled in the 1
st.
The Patriots will return to action on Saturday, April 2, as they travel to Christendom College in Front Royal, VA. The DH is set to start at 1pm.
