PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Patriots took the court on Saturday for their regular season finale vs. the Owls of Bryn Mawr College. It was also senior day, in which they would honor lone senior
Patience Ekuta, who was playing in her last home collegiate basketball game.
The Patriots would go on a 7-0 run to start the game. That took up the first 5 minutes of the 1
st quarter. A
Lindsay LeSueur layup at 3:31 made that run 10-2. LeSueur would finish the 1
st with another layup with 43 seconds to go. The Patriots would end the quarter with a 16-6 lead. LeSueur would have 7 points in the 1
st.
In the 2
nd quarter
Bailey Mayforth would heat up. She would score 11 in the quarter. Just 20 seconds in she nailed a three. Two minutes later she hit another one to give the Patriots a 25-6 lead. With 1:34 to go before the half she hit yet another three. At the half the Patriots would lead 42-19.
In the 3
rd quarter the Patriots were fairly quiet. They scored only 10 points in the quarter. Their defense though helped them maintain the lead, as they only gave up 12. They would hold a 21 point lead going to the 4
th, 52-31.
The scoring opened up in the fourth with a
Jhanel Brown layup. That would be followed by another
Bailey Mayforth three pointer. Brown would score 9 in the 4
th, and Mayforth would score 8, and the Patriots cruised to a 75-48 victory.
With the victory, the Patriots improved to 14-10 on the season.
Bailey Mayforth led all scorers with 22.
Jhanel Brown finished with a double-double, 21 points and 18 rebounds.
Senior
Patience Ekuta finished the game with 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. The stat line does not speak of her excellent defensive play this season as well.
The Patriots will head to the NCCAA regionals were they will compete for a National tournament spot with Johnson University, and Kentucky Christian University.
