ALLENTOWN, PA – The University of Valley Forge Women's Soccer Team was defeated 8-1 in their opening contest against the Cedar Crest Falcons.
"
We knew Cedar Crest was a very good team going into the game, but we came out very slow instead of putting the attack to them," Patriots Head Coach
Juan Delcid commented. "
In the second half we definitely improved and began showing our ability to attack. It was too little too late, but the way we finished is the way we'll look to start in our next game on Thursday."
The Falcons built a 3-0 lead at halftime after goals from Kassandra Miller, Courtney Long, and Kayla Daniels. Long became Cedar Crest's all-time points leader with three additional goals in the second half.
The Patriots lone goal came with 19 minutes remaining as
Karalyn Vilcko scored her first goal as a Patriot! Her goal came off a cross from teammate
Kelsey Morrison. Villcko was able to get her head on the ball and knock it into the net.
The Patriots will have a quick turnaround as they'll travel to Maryland to take on Notre Dame of Maryland University on Thursday, September 4
th at 4:30PM. Live video and stats will be available for this contest. See links below.
