Chargers Take Down Patriots

PHOENIXVILLE, PA - The University of Valley Forge Softball Team went up against East Region rival Lancaster Bible College on Monday afternoon.  The Patriots started out well in game one, but lost by a final score of 9-1.  Game two was completely dominated by LBC as they scored 10 runs in the opening inning and went on to win 15-0.

After getting three quick outs in the top of the 1st inning, the Patriots responded by taking an opening lead.  Naomi Thompson led off with a single, and eventually scored on an Amanda McGinness sacrifice fly.  However, the Chargers responded by scoring three runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to take control.  They cruised on to victory, 9-1.

Patriots' Sarah Brugere had the only other hit as she went 1 for 2 from the plate.

Chargers' Julia D'Arrigo led off game two with a solo home-run.  It jump started LBC and they went on to score 10 runs in the opening frame.  D'Arrigo hit another home run in the 2nd inning and the game was out of reach for the Patriots.  The Chargers went on to win 15-0.

Valley Forge has two remaining games on their schedule, both at home.  They will host PSU Harrisburg on Wednesday and East Region opponent Baptist Bible College on Thursday.  Both will be double-headers slated to start at 4PM.

Go Patriots!
