MEDIA, PA - The University of Valley Forge Men's Baseball Team traveled on Monday to take on PSU Brandywine. A great pitching performance from
Chase Hornberger kept the Patriots close for the majority of the game. However, the Lions pulled away late and won by a final score of 16-4.
For the third straight game, senior lead-off man
Bryce Koch got the team off to a good start, scoring on a
Joshua Strohm double. However, the 1-0 lead did not last long as the Lions responded with two runs in each of the next two innings. With the bases loaded in the top of the 3rd, sophomore
Tyler Logan doubled down the left field line to score
Jeffrey Thrappas and Strohm. The Patriots were now trailing 4-3.
After tacking on runs in the 3rd and 5th innings, the Lions built a 6-3 lead heading into the 7th. In the bottom half of their inning they exploded for five runs, and scored another five runs in the bottom of the 8th to put the game out of reach. The final score was 16-4.
Freshman
Chase Hornberger had a career-day, pitching six strong innings, and going 2 for 4 from the plate, including a double.
The Patriots will have a few days off before traveling to Brooklyn, NY to take on St. Joseph's College on Saturday, April 18th.
