Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Drops Match to Wilson

PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The women's soccer team played host to the Wilson College Phoenix, Tuesday, October 7.  Looking to make another deposit in the win column, the Lady Patriots were upended by the visitors by a final score of 0-2.

The Lady Patriots were pushed into a defensive corner as the Phoenix fired upon Valley Forge's goalie.  The women did their best to fend off the visitors but after taking a barrage of shots, the Lady Patriots finally let one slip through their fingers.  At the 15:15 mark, Phoenix player Erin Stephen kicked a hard ball toward the goal but was denied by goalie, Amanda McGinness.  McGinness's deflection got too far away from her as Stephen was right there to grab the ball and sail it into the back of the net, putting the team up, 1-0.

The Phoenix continued to bear down on the Lady Patriots, turning away their offense at every chance and tiring out the defense.  Several minutes before the half, the Phoenix tallied another goal from Nana Ama Ohene-Manu, putting the visitors up, 2-0.

Into the second verse the weather started to take a turn for the worse and as the wind and rain complicated passes, neither team could manage precision passes to find their way to the opposing net.  Despite several attempts the Lady Patriots couldn't find a way to break through the Phoenix's defense and left the field without a goal by the sound of the horn.

The team takes the next week to practice before returning to the field in their second to last game of the regular season, Saturday, October 18.  Celebrating Senior Day, the team will say goodbye to two seniors as they compete against The King's College at 1PM.

Go Patriots!
