CLARKS SUMMIT, PA- The University of Valley Forge women's soccer team concluded the 2014 playing season in a post-season game against Baptist Bible College. With each team vying for the NCCAA II East Region Championship banner, the stakes and emotions ran high. Unfortunately it would be the BBC
Defenders holding the banner as the Lady Patriots were defeated, 0-7.
The Lady Patriots' troubles started before the game even began as the team needed to play a man down due to injury. Less than a minute into the game the Lady Defenders made their presence known with a goal from Ruth Holloman.
Rachel Stormes looked to put UVF on the board with a shot at 16:11 but BBC goalie, Katelyn King, was there to turn it away. From there the damage continued as the host school recorded three more goals before the half.
Coming into the second stanza down, 0-4, the Lady Patriots tried to push their offense forward into Defender territory but were rejected at each turn. BBC picked up there pace as well, taking an additional 14 shots, making good on three of them. As time ran out and refusing to let UVF take any more shots, the Lady Defenders ended UVF's women's soccer season.
Rachel Stormes recorded two shots and one shot on goal while
Caitlin LaFountain and
Kelsey Morrison recorded one shot each.
Loren Metallo notched six saves for the game.
Go Patriots!
