Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Three For The Win!

PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The women's volleyball team returned to The Pit to host College of Saint Elizabeth in a mid-week matchup. The women were looking to rebound from a tough loss the night before and came out strong to defeat the Screaming Eagles, 3-0!

After a wobbly start, the Lady Patriots found their footing and started their attack. Utilizing all three hitters to throw off the defense, the women build a solid cushion of points. Several times the Screaming Eagles found a way to put up a roadblock and slow the host school down but each time the women rebounded nicely, going on small runs to build their lead. Solid serving pushed the Lady Patriots even further ahead and the team cruised to 25-10 victory.

Into the second set the women came on even stronger, allowing nothing to hit the floor. Freshman starter, Faith Bachman presented herself as a new threat, repeatedly attacking the Eagles defensive line. Madison Arrowsmith appeared to be unstoppable behind the end line delivering one service ace after another. As everyone played their part, the Lady Patriots pocketed the second set, 25-9.

The final verse of the night sang a little differently than the first two. Assorted communication errors mixed with flat-footedness delivered a nine point deficit, 1-10, against the Lady Patriots. A quick time out from the home bench allowed the women time to gather themselves and get back to basics. Strategic serving from Aubrie McQuown and Jamie Summers allowed the women to climb back into contention with the visitors, 11-15. Barring down on the visitors, the women repeatedly attacked from all angles, catching the Screaming Eagles on their heels and tying the score at 17-17. Once again Faith Bachman came alive to push the Lady Patriots further ahead, recording three straight kills. An unusual pair of serving errors allowed the visitors to stay right on the heels of the women, 21-19. Close the victory both team refused to give up, going back and forth for the point until finally the game was put to rest with a kill from Madison Arrowsmith to win the set and match, 25-22.

Faith Bachman walked away with 10 kills, five digs and two aces. Madison Arrowsmith notched seven kills, eight digs and five aces. Olivia Wireman finished with 19 assists, three aces and two block assists.

The women take two days off before traveling to Christendom College to compete in a tri-match. The will play against host school, Christendom and visiting team Trinity Washington University on Saturday, October 5.
