HUNTINGDON, PA- The men's basketball started off the new year at the Juniata Holiday Tournament. In the first round the Patriots were matched up against host school Juniata College, Friday, January 3. The Eagles outplayed the visitors sending them to the consolation round.
The Patriots were able to hold the damage from the Eagles to a minimum for the majority of the first half, trailing just 23-36 with 4:10 left on the clock. Unfortunately, from that point until the end of the game, the Eagles continued to punch holes in the Patriots' defense until it finally crumbled under the weight of Juniata's game plan. Unable to utilize their pressure defense and quick speed offense, the Patriots yielded to the Eagles by a final score of 48-94.
Â
"We didn't defend with a purpose, rebound with a passion nor pass the ball to make each other better. We wasted an opportunity to get better against a quality opponent" stated Head Coach Jon Mack after the game.
Â
Lance Harris recorded a game high of 20 points along with three steals.Â
Â
The Patriots move to the consolation round of the tournament, Saturday, January 4. The men will play John Hopkins University at 2 pm.
