Newark, NJ- The Patriots traveled to the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Tuesday, January 28, to play host school Berkeley College (NJ). The men were outplayed in the second half and handed the game to the host school, 58-66.
The first half was a tug-of-war for control over the game. While the Patriots held the lead for most of the first half, it was never in a consistent amount of time. Every time the men would go on a small run, the Knights were right there to pull them back within a point or two. Just before heading into the break, the Patriots were able to go on a small run and lead the Knights, 38-30.
Well into the second stanza, the Patriots were able to keep their small but steady lead. However, at the 11:32 mark, the men's offense went cold. The Patriots shot a meager 16% from the floor compared to the Knight's 53%. Without the excitement of the offensive rush, the Patriots defense began to suffer and the Knights took the lead and ran out the clock to take the game.
"The loss is consistent with our season. As a team we are inconsistent in our play and our guys need to figure out how to play 40 minutes." discussed Head Coach Jon Mack.
In the loss
Kevin Mack recorded 17 points, six steals and six rebounds.
Lance Harris contributed 11 points in addition to five assists.
Jean LeBlanc also scored in the double-digits with 10 points.
The Patriots return home for their next game on Friday, January 31. The men host Berkeley College (NY) at 7 pm.
