The Valley Forge Christian College women's volleyball team faced another tough loss against Bryn Athyn College, yesterday, September 6. The Lady Patriots strained to find a rhythm but found themselves outmatched and fell in three sets, 20-25, 8-25, and 17-25.
True to season form, the Patriots came out strong in the first set, going point for point. Tied 11-11, the momentum went to the Lions taking them within set point and well ahead of the Lady Patriots, 16-24. Refusing to give up, the ladies continued to fight against losing the set, attacking at the net to get within four points, 20-24. However, the Lions took advantage of an overpass from the Patriots to finish the set with a kill.
The Patriots were unable to swing the momentum back to their side of the court for sets two and three before the match came to a close.
"We are a solid team, but we are finding a way to carry the aggression we have in set one into the entire match. We are a younger team and in time we will get pass this block" stated Head Coach Amanda Gauthier.
Katie Clarke ended the night with eight kills, eight digs and a service ace.
Courtney Farabee earned 11 digs against Bryn Athyn.
The ladies take the next day to rest before hosting a tri-match, Saturday, September 7. The Patriots play host to Christendom College and Keystone College at 10 am and 2 pm.
Go Patriots!
