Patriots' Post-Season Run Ends With Loss to Grace University

Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, MO
- The Patriots' season and run in the NCCAA National Tournament ended with close loss in the consolation round to Grace University (Omaha, NE), Wednesday, March 6.  The Patriots fell to the Royals with a final score of 65-70.

It was a case of deja vu for the Patriots, as their loss against Grace University mirrored their loss against Ozark Christian College, one night earlier.  The Patriots trailed for the majority of the game until midway through the second period.  Despite being down 32-36 at the break, the Patriots worked their way to the lead.  It would only be for a moment however, as Grace loaded their defenses and forced the Patriots to take less than ideal shots and commit several turnovers, leading to Graces' return to the lead.  As time started to wind down, the Patriots attempted to make a stop on the Royals by fouling and bringing them to the free-throw line.   Making good on their free-throws and stopping the Patriots from going on a late-surge offensive run, however, the Royals kept their lead and the game finally came to a close.

The Patriots shot 51% from the floor, going 28-for-54 in field goals.  The Patriots won the rebounding game, grabbing 34 boards compared to Grace's 28; however the Patriots committed 18 turnovers in the game compared to Grace's 14.

Lance Harris led the Patriots in scoring, knocking down 21 points, going 9-for-14 on the night.

Kevin Mack scored 19 points along with three steals and one assist.

Donnell Davis and Jonathan Dukes played solid for the Patriots as well.  Davis tallied eight points, two rebounds and two steals, while Dukes grabbed seven rebounds, six assists and three steals.

The Patriots end their season with a final record of 16-13 and an East Region Championship.
