Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hornets Defense Stalls Patriots

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The men's basketball team fell in the opening round of the Gallaudet University Holiday Tournament, Friday, December 6. The Patriots faced one of their toughest opponents of the season, the Lynchburg College Hornets and were defeated by a final score of 70-94.

The men took the early lead, 9-4, before a couple of Hornet three-points edged them past the Patriots.  Making a few adjustments the Patriots continued to get the run, showing a dominance of 31-22 with 9:27 to go in the first half.
At that moment the Hornets called a timeout to regroup and modify their game plan.  It worked.  The Patriots started to watch their lead fade as the Hornets went on a 26-6 run to take the lead, 48-37, going into halftime.

Early into the second stanza, the men were able to cut the lead back to six, 42-48, but could not push their run any further.  The Patriots' lead scorer Lance Harris hit early foul trouble causing the Patriots to change up their game plan.  The Hornets continued to be hot from beyond the arc and in the paint to clinch the victory, 94-70.

Jean LeBlanc led the Patriots in scoring with 14 points.

Lance Harris added 11 points with five assists and four steals.

The Patriots move on to the consolation round of the tournament, Saturday, December 7, against Maryland Bible College.  The game is set to start at 3 pm.
