PHOENIXVILLE, PA- The Valley Forge Christian College men's basketball team hosted East Region competitor, Lancaster Bible College, Tuesday, December 03. The Patriots fell to the Chargers by a final score of 63-72.
It was an excited first half as the two teams battled for control of the board. The score continued to go back and forth, with the Patriots starting to pull away in the beginning of the period before the Chargers stepped up their game, stopping the Patriots run and climbing into the lead. The host school was impressive from beyond the arc, going 7-16 to keep the visitors on their toes. The Patriots started to
struggle as time ran down and the Chargers clinched the lead going to halftime, 38-35.
Into the second half both teams strained to sustain a solid lead. As the period go underway, the Patriots shots stopped falling, shooting just 26% from the floor and going just 2-10 from the three-point line. As the Chargers started to pull away, the Patriots began to find a small rhythm and slowly close the gap in score. With 46-seconds left on the clock the Patriots trailed by just five points, 63-68. Forced to foul, the
Patriots led the Chargers to foul-line but were unable to convert to overtake the Chargers for the win. The game came to a close with a final score of 63-72.
The Patriots were out-rebounded 42-30, while shooting just 32% from the floor while the Chargers shot 49%.
Lance Harris recorded 18 points, eight rebounds and two steals for the night.
Jean LeBlanc tallied 17 points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Patriots hit the road for their next two games, competing in the Gallaudet University Holiday Tournament. The Patriots travel to Washington, D.C. December 6-7. The men go up against Lynchburg College in the first round, Friday, December 6 at 6 pm.
