LANGHORNE, PA- The women's volleyball team closed the book on their 2013 season, Saturday, October 26. The Lady Patriots traveled to Cairn University to play in the NCCAA II East Region Semifinals. The fourth seeded Patriots competed against the first seeded Highlanders. The Patriots were able to stand their ground for the majority of each set, but were finally defeated, 0-3.
In the first set the Lady Patriots stayed right on the heels of the Highlanders, straying just a few points behind. The Patriots were able utilized the Highlanders service and hitting errors in the beginning of the set, but as game point came closer the Highlanders quickened their pace to pull away and seize set 1, 17-25.
As second and third set unfolded, the Patriots receiving game became cloudy. Getting caught in a receiving rotation for several points the ladies quickly fell behind. Once they were able to run their offense, the Patriots accumulated points to start crawling back into the game.Â
Despite putting up one of the hardest fights all season, the Patriots could not overcome the strength of the Highlanders. The Patriots gave up sets two and three, 10-25, 12-25.
At the conclusion of the games, the East Region Teams were announced. Katie Clarke and Courtney Farabee were named to the NCCAA East Region Second Team. Carli Kile was given East Region Honorable Mention.
The Patriots finish their season with a final record of 6-18.Â
Go Patriots!
