GLASSBORO, NJ – The Valley Forge Christian College men's basketball team traveled to New Jersey to compete against host school Rowan University, tonight, January 28, 2013. The Patriots were defeated by the Profs, 77-85.
The game tied four times in the first half with the final tie, 26-26, happening at with six minutes left. The Patriots went up 30-26 following a layup by
Dominic Cain and two foul shots by
Kevin Mack. Rowan answered back going on an 8-0 run for a 34-30 advantage. With eight seconds remaining, the Profs were holding on to their lead by five, 35-40.
Jean LeBlanc was able connected on a three-pointer as time expired to bring the Patriots within two, 40-38, at the break!
Two minutes into the second period, the Patriots were able to trail the Profs by just one point, 45-44. As time continued on, the Patriots would still trail but manage to stay within arm's reach of the opposition. With 10 minutes left in the game, the Patriots were able to tie, 60-60, and then score again off of a three-pointer from
Jean LeBlanc and free-throws from
Lance Harris to lead the Profs, 65-63!
Unfortunately, several costly turnovers and a lack of aggression on the boards by the Patriots allowed the Profs to go on an 11-0 run, making the score 76-67 with six minutes left in the game. Although the Patriots would attempt to make a comeback, the Profs' lead was too great to overcome and they eventually walked away with the victory.
Dominic Cain posted 20 points and four rebounds.
Kevin Mack collected 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Jonathan Dukes chipped in with 13 points, six boards and four steals.
Lance Harris scored 11 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Jean LeBlanc and
Domenick Bond each had nine points.
The Patriot men travel to Michigan for the remainder of the week to play three separate schools. The first stop is against Kuyper College on January 31. The game starts at 7pm!
