PORTLAND, OR – On Saturday night (Dec. 1) the Valley Forge Christian College men's basketball team completed their northwest sweep, defeating the Lions of Multnomah University by a final score of 82-63. After a tumultuous first half, the Patriots were able to make their second half adjustments, and coast to victory.
Head coach Jon Mack knew that stopping Multnomah's powerful transition offense and keeping the ball out of the hands of the Lions' three point shooters would be the keys to the win. The first half of tonight's game could be chalked up as a defeat, as Valley Forge was unable to control the tempo and Multnomah's transition offense. At the end of the first half, the Patriots found themselves in a three point deficit (41-38).
After the break, Valley Forge was able to able to adjust and successfully contain the Lions' offense, holding them to just twenty-two second-half points. The Patriots were also able to dominate the boards, grabbing forty-eight rebounds to MU's twenty-two.
Valley Forge was led to victory by sophomore
Kevin Mack, who went on an offensive tear during the west coast swing, averaging just less than 18 points per game. Mack finished the night with his first double-double of the season, with 21 points scored and 10 rebounds.
Junior
Lance Harris finished the just one assist shy of his first career triple-double. Harris ended with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists.

Donnell Davis (13), freshman
Jonathan Dukes (12), and freshman
Dominic Cain (11) also made significant contributions for Valley Forge. Davis was also tied for the assists lead with nine, while Cain was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
Sophomore
Jean LeBlanc (4) and freshman
Domenick Bond (5) rounded out the scoring for the Patriots.
In the loss, Multnomah's Steven Sansone and Austin Hodges tallied 15 and 13 points, respectively.
After another long day of cross country travel on Sunday, the Patriots will have a few days to prepare for their next opponent, NCAA Division II school SUNY Farmingdale State (NY), in the opening round of the Doc Green Invitational hosted by Juniata College on Friday, December 7, 2012.
