PORTLAND, OR - On the second day (Nov. 30) of the Multnomah University Classic, the Valley Forge Christian College (#6 NCCAA II) men's basketball team defeated Portland Bible College (#8 NCCAA II) by a final score of 66-61. The Patriots met a tough competitor in Portland Bible College as the Wildcats' high powered offense was ranked in the top five nationally.
The Patriots opened up with a 13-4 lead early in the first half, but the Wildcats fought back. The half-time score was locked at 35-35. In the second half, VFCC was able to to fend off the PBC offense and held on for a 5-point victory. On the stat sheet, both teams were almost even in every category. Portland Bible held the rebounding advantage, 50-41, while Valley Forge outshot the Wildcats from the floor. The Patriots shot 38 percent (21-for-55) compared to Portland's 31 percent (21-for-66).
Leading Valley Forge to victory was sophomore
Kevin Mack who finished with a game high 17 points, and hit five of six from the free throw line.
Freshman Chase Bell finished with a season high 11 points off of a 3-for-3 shooting effort from beyond the three point arc.
Junior
Lance Harris scored 10 points.
On the final day of the classic, the Patriots will face the host school Multnomah University for the tournament championship. Saturday's game (Dec. 1) is scheduled for a 7:00 pm (PST) tip-off.
