BALTIMORE, MD - The VFCC Lady Patriots basketball team was defeated on Tuesday night (Jan. 17) by the Goucher College Gophers. In their first game after claiming the co-championship title at the Assemblies of God Credit Union Classic (Minneapolis, MN), the Lady Patriots dropped a 53-46 decision. After opening up the game on an 18-2 run, midway through the first half, the Lady Gophers turned up the heat and took control just before halftime, taking a one-point lead into the break. In the second half, Goucher continued to lead, but VFCC was nipping at their heels every step of the way. Down the stretch, the Lady Patriots just didn't have the energy to come away with the win.

Amanda Reich led the Lady Patriots in points scored with 16.

Morgan Godwin added 11 points of her own on shooting 3-for-6 from beyond the arc.
The Lady Patriots were without starter
Amanda Compton who has been averaging a near double-double on the season, averaging 10.4 ppg and 9.5 rpg.
Up next for the Lady Patriots will be another road game on Friday (Jan. 20) against Trinity University (Washington, D.C.). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
