MINNEAPOLIS, MN
- The VFCC Lady Patriots had a chance on Saturday (Jan. 14) at history, but were denied the opportunity to capture their third consecutive Assemblies of God Credit Union Classic championship.  After setting themselves up in a good position to finish off the tournament with an unblemished record, the Lady Patriots were defeated by the Trinity Bible College Lady Lions by a final score of 71-61.

After opening up the game to an eleven point lead midway through the first half, the Lady Lions were able to close the gap with some relentless defensive pressure, and the Lady Patriots lead was cut to a slim two point margin at the halftime break.  Shortly after the halftime break, Trinity Bible was able to take the lead, and after a 15-5 scoring run, found themselves in control of the game.  Valley Forge did their best to climb back into the lead, but were never able to get within eight points of the Lady Lions down the stretch,

The Lady Patriots seemed to not have an answer tonight for TBC's Treva Nutter, who finished with a game high 26 points, 10 rebounds, and a game high 4 steals.  Kayla Droste followed Nutter lead, and finished with a double-double of her own, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.  Also in the scoring mix for the Lady Lions was Kylie Flemmer who added 16 points of her own.

For the Lady Patriots in the loss were the duo of Amanda Compton and Amanda Reich, who led their team with a pair of double-doubles of their own, each recording 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Junior Morgan Godwin finished with a team high 19 points, including shooting an impressive 6-for-9 from beyond the three point arc.

With the loss, the Lady Patriots take claim to their piece of a three-way tie for first place with Trinity Bible College and ACGU Classic host school, North Central University.  Each team finished the tournament with a 2-1 record.

Please stay tuned for more information regarding the 2012 AGCU All-Tournament team when it is announced later.

The 2013 Assemblies of God Credit Union Classic will be hosted by Valley Forge Christian College January 10-12.
