Lady Patriots Jump To Early Lead In Victory Over Schuylkill

PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The Valley Forge Christian College women's basketball team pounded Penn State Schuylkill in the first half (47-17) on Wednesday (Feb. 9), cruising to a 76-43 win.

This victory pushed the Lady Patriots' regular season record to 16-11.  They were able to surpass last season's regular season win mark (15), with three games remaining.

The Lady Patriots still have work to do, and have a much higher goal in mind.  Last year, the Lady Patriots came so close to winning an East Region championship for the first time in a long time, but ultimately fell short (55-56) at the hands of Philadelphia Biblical University.

The Lady Patriots are already slated to host the 2011 Championship game, but in order to climb the next rung on the success ladder they must tighten up their play over the next three games.

Against Penn State Schuylkill, the Lady Patriots looked very sharp in the first half and overall it was a good performance.

The 43 points allowed by the Lady Patriots was at least 13 points lower than their season average (56.6).  The 76 points scored by Valley Forge was 11 points higher than their season average (64.5).

The Lady Patriots received significant statistical contributions from several players.

Amanda Reich (Milton, PA, Milton High School) led all scorers with 17 points.

Shawneal McKeither (Philadelphia, PA) tallied an impressive 12 points, seven assists, and five steals.

Morgan Godwin (Fairfax, VA, Fairfax High School) tacked on 11 points, including a 3-for-4 showing from the perimeter.

Talaya Woodall (Trenton, NJ) earned 10 points, while shooting a perfect 2-for-2 from the three-point line.

Amanda Compton (Newark, DE, Elkton Christian Academy) nearly notched a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Charla Benton (Milford, DE, Greenwood Mennonite School) recorded four assists.

The Lady Patriots' next game is on Saturday (Feb. 12) against Christendom College at the “Pit”.  Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
