Lady Patriots Make It 3 Wins In A Row

Box Score

PHOENIXVILLE, PA
- The Valley Forge women's basketball team capped off their third straight win of the season, defeating the Nittany Lions of Penn State University - Abington (Abington, PA) by a final score of 67-43.  The Lady Patriots recorded 12 steals, 2 rebounds and 9 team assists, while forcing 19 PSU turnovers, but for Valley Forge, tonight's game was won with rebounds.  VFCC dominated the boards against Penn State Abington, outrebounding them 57-20.  Within that statistic, the Lady Patriots won the offensive boards 19-3, and the defensive side 38-17.  VFCC had two girls in double-digit rebounding tonight, and four more who were within just a few boards of double digits.

Penn State Abington would get off to the hot start, scoring the game's first eight points, but from there on out it was all Valley Forge.  After being down early, the Lady Patriots rattled off a 16-0 halfway through the first half, and were able to take a 14 point (30-16) margin into the halftime locker room.  VFCC recorded several steals shortly into the second half to increase their lead as the Nittany Lions continued their rebounding woes.  The Lady Patriots would coast down the stretch to their third straight win of the season.

Leading the way for the Lady Patriots was junior Amanda Compton, who recorded her third double-double of the season, scoring 14 points, and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Senior Kaitlyn Antolic (Burlington, NJ, Florence High School) led the team with 13 rebounds.
