Lady Patriots Outrebounded In Clarks Summit

CLARKS SUMMIT, PA – After trailing by as many as 12 points in the first half, the Valley Forge women's basketball team made an admirable push to regain control of their game with Baptist Bible College (PA).
With 9:21 remaining in the second half, the Lady Patriots gained their first lead, a lead they would sustain until the final minute of play.

After a lay-up by Valley Forge's Talaya Woodall, the Lady Patriots led by seven points with 3:47 left on the scoreboard.

However, after a pair of free-throws and an and-one lay-up, Baptist Bible was right back in the contest.

The Lady Patriots clung to a 1-point advantage with 1:12 on the clock.

An unfortunate turnover with 58 seconds was followed by a foul that gave Baptist Bible the go-ahead free-throws.

After another missed field goal by the Lady Patriots, Valley Forge was forced to foul.
Baptist Bible would make six consecutive free-throws to conclude the game as they held home court with a 62-55 victory.

Shawneal McKeither and Amanda Reich were the top performers for the Lady Patriots.

Shawneal McKeither (Philadelphia, PA) finished with season-highs in points (22) and steals (6).

Amanda Reich (Milton, PA, Milton High School) recorded 18 points, a team-high six rebounds, and three steals.

Aside from free-throws, the key factor of the game was rebounding.  The Lady Patriots were outrebounded 51-24.  It was the most lopsided rebounding battle of the season for the Valley Forge women.  They were held to a season-low 24 rebounds, while giving up the second highest amount of rebounds this season (51).

To the Lady Patriots' credit, they were able to force Baptist Bible into 33 turnovers, which helped Valley Forge place 31 points onto the scoreboard.

The Lady Patriots hope to rebound quickly from their loss as they will make their way to Springfield, Missouri, where they will take on Ozark Christian College, Baptist Bible College (MO), North Central University, and Trinity Bible College.
