PHOENIXVILLE, PA - The Valley Forge Christian College women's basketball team fell to Arcadia University on Thursday (Jan. 27), 56-47.
The Lady Patriots six-game win streak came to halt, as they struggled defensively in the second half of play.
Valley Forge led 23-21 at the half, but midway through the second stanza, Arcadia went on a 19-4 run to gain control of the game and a lead that they would never relinquish.
After shooting just 27.3% (9-for-33) in the first half, Arcadia went on to shoot 46.9% (15-for-32) over those final 20 minutes.
Amanda Reich (Milton, PA, Milton High School) earned 15 points and eight rebounds and four steals to lead the Lady Patriots.
Amanda Compton (Newark, DE, Elkton Christian Academy) finished with 13 points and six rebounds.
Shawneal McKeither (Philadelphia, PA) tallied an impressive eight rebounds, four assists and nine steals.
Aliyah Carr (Philadelphia, PA, High School of Engineering and Science) notched five assists.
Valley Forge's pressure defense allowed them to convert 23 Arcadia turnovers into 20 points, but it wasn't enough to offset the rebounding difference. Arcadia out-rebounded the Lady Patriots, 54-33.
The Lady Patriots' next game is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against Penn College of Technology.
