PHOENIXVILLE, PA - The Valley Forge women's basketball team picked up an East Region victory on Thursday (Jan. 20), against Lancaster Bible College (74-39).
The defensive-minded Lady Patriots showed up big and held Lancaster Bible to just 39 points for the game. That was good for the second-lowest amount of points allowed on the season by the Lady Patriots.
The Lady Patriots pressure got the best of the Lady Chargers, as Lancaster Bible would commit 25 turnovers.
The Lady Patriots entered the half-time period with a 36-17 advantage.
Valley Forge, who applied aggressive full-court pressure for a good portion of the game, converted Lancaster Bible's miscues into 22 points.
Freshman Shawneal McKeither (Philadelphia, PA) finished with a game-high 18 points. McKeither also tallied nine rebounds, five steals, three assists, and two blocked shots.
Morgan Godwin (Fairfax, VA, Fairfax High School) stepped in with a nice showing from the perimeter. Godwin nailed four three-pointers and finished with 15 points.
Talaya Woodall (Trenton, NJ) had a good game with 11 points and three assists.
Amanda Reich (Milton, PA, Milton High School) and Aliyah Carr (Philadelphia, PA, High School of Engineering and Science) each finished up with 10 points. Reich added three steals.
Kaitlyn Antolic (Burlington, NJ, Florence High School) grabbed six rebounds.
The Lady Patriots were glad to have earned a victory in the first of their two regular season match-ups with Lancaster Bible.
The two teams will match-up again on February 16th.
