WILSON, PA – It's been a roller coaster ride for the Lady Patriots through the first half of the season, but in their second to last game of the first semester, they were able to get the job done with a victory over host Wilson College, 64-54.
Two factors played significant roles for the Lady Patriots' victory, their defense and their bench.
The Lady Patriots' defense was notable as they finished the game with a season-high of 18 steals. Wilson College's 25 turnovers were converted into 25 points for Valley Forge. Wilson shot a hair over 30% from the field for the game, and just 22.7% in the second half.
Thanks to the tandem of
Talaya Woodall (Trenton, NJ) and
Shawneal McKeither (Philadelphia, PA), the Lady Patriot bench outscored Wilson's reserves, 33-7. Woodall and McKeither combined for 30 points and 11 steals.
Senior
Talaya Woodall finished with her season-high in scoring (18 points) and tied her season-high in steals (6).
Freshman
Shawneal McKeither tacked on 12 points and five steals.
Sophomore
Amanda Compton (Newark, DE, Elkton Christian Academy) recorded 10 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.
Sophomore
Amanda Reich (Milton, PA, Milton High School) nearly finished with a double-double. Reich earned nine points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Patriots have one more game before their holiday break. The Valley Forge plays Eastern University on Friday (Dec. 17).
